Iarla ó Lionáird guests on Echoes with John Diliberto


Echoes is a nightly music soundscape heard on public radio stations across the United States.

The two-hour music soundscape is distributed by Public Radio International and broadcast on 130 radio stations from Maine to California. With host John Diliberto, a writer forBillboard, Pulse and other magazines, Echoes brings together a wide array of styles, from acoustic to electronic, jazz to space music, the avant-garde to rock. Echoes is a sound that is cross-cultural and trans-millennial, merging cultures and forms, technology and tradition, the ancient past and the possible future.

Iarla's interview airs on Monday January 16 and the weekend of January 21.

"The aim", says Nick Page, the musician and producer best-known as Dubulah, also founding member of Transglobal Underground and Syriana, "is to constantly surprise." The new Dub Colossus album, Addis Through The Looking Glass, does just that. It's a new departure in the band's remarkable history. Dubulah first travelled to Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa in 2006 to collaborate with musicians and explore traditional Azmari styles, 60s Ethiopian pop, Ethiojazz and 70s Jamaican Dub Reggae.
