Charlie Winston's 'Like a Hobo' Available to Remix at realworldremixed.com

We have been a little slow in making updates to Real World Remixed recently, but that's about to change. We've added a new sample pack today, Charlie Winston's 'Hobo', one of the biggest hits of last summer in France, and that's just the start of a flurry of activity.

Coming up in the next few weeks we are going to have the first in a new series of packs and competitions from Peter Gabriel.

'Not One of Us' will be made available here at the same time as it is released as the first 'double a-side' from his collaborative 'Scratch My Back' project.

The 'double a-side' will see Peter's cover of The Magnetic Fields song 'The Book of Love' and their, or more precisely Stephin Merritt's version of 'Not One of Us' released as the first pair of songs from 'Scratch My Back'

More details will be coming soon, particularly on the competition. In the meantime, we hope you like Charlie Winston's 'Hobo'

"The gorgeous Like a Hobo - a No 1 single in France - goes the whole pensive hog, with minor chords and whistling, while Tongue-Tied, a flirtation with jazz that's partly sung in Suffolk-accented French, is a showcase for Winston's excellent band. A worthy contender for la petite sensation de 2010 in the UK." The Guardian

Dubulah first travelled to Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa in 2006 to collaborate with musicians and explore traditional Azmari styles, 60s Ethiopian pop, Ethiojazz and 70s Jamaican Dub Reggae.

Laru Beya

Aurelio - Laru Beya - album cover

Encouraged by a songwriter mother with a gorgeous voice and by his widely admired local troubadour father, the young Aurelio made his own guitars from cans and fishing line. Music and songs were the only entertainment in a place with no electricity and little contact with the outside world, and it is these songs that shaped him as an artist and inspired the pieces on Laru Beya.

Bought For A Dollar, Sold For A Dime

Bought For A Dollar, Sold For A Dime album cover

The musical melting pot of 'Bought For A Dollar, Sold for a Dime' is large, and bubbling. Here are addictive rhythms. Soulful vocals. Pinches of dub and funk, reggae and gospel. Oh-so-subtle samples and innovative electronics. And underpinning it all, McDonald's shimmering blues guitar licks, conjuring a space where the dirt roads of the Deep South meet the shiny lanes of the Information Superhighway.
